Thank you everyone for your comments so far on yesterday's post. We really appreciate all the companies you've introduced us to, and he's already looking into them!
A little edited and updated info... This is not the beginning of our job search, so we have already applied and registered on job search sites and contacted different area and states websites and HR reps.
Going to a specific state governments website was my initial thought as well, however, they seem to only list things such as "police officer" or "county clerk" and such... but don't list jobs that he is more qualified and willing to do, as these are usually contracted out by private contracting agencies working for the state and local governments. He is way over-qualified for most jobs listed on a state government's website (or at least the one's we've checked). I'm not saying he can't get a job working for the a state gov. but so far what we've looked at is not what we're looking for.
Next. We're not picky. We don't care where we move (if we even do decide to move). Obviously we're okay with living wherever the job takes us- we had to do that with the Army. As much as we love both of our families, we're both very used to living far away from them, so moving even farther would make no difference.
What we're really looking for is specific companies. Specific job opportunities that you might know about that he might be qualified for. We're looking for you to mention him to an uncle, brother, or friend who works in security or government or a company that needs them, etc. What we want is... if a conversation comes up over the next few weeks, and it sparks something in your brain to remember and think about this blog and our job search, mention us and get info for us!
We want to be introduced to more specific opportunities, so we can lay them all out, look at them, apply, and find the right place, where we need to be.
There is no job title or simple job description to type into a search engine. This is what makes it difficult. There's tons out there, and we've found lots of possibilities, but since we don't really know where we want to live, and Dirk isn't too picky or sure of the specifics of what he wants to do next, we want to be introduced to as many possibilities as we can.
Keep em' coming! And thank you for the prayers! They're greatly needed and appreciated!
*on a funny note: At a career fair yesterday, he was told he was too over-qualified for the CIA!! hahaha! Then they specified and said they were looking for entry level tech guys and not agents. He's qualified for an agent, but they have about 120% of what they need right now. I thought that was kind of funny that was their first response to him :)

Hey guys! Hope you two are doing well...still haven't gotten down to Samoa? ;-) Well...I work at the NIU Police Dept, and we always have openings for police officers here, and we just recently started a emergency planning dept after the 2/14 shootings on campus. He probablly is over qualified, but just trying to do my little bit (www.niu.edu)...but mostly I'd just love to have a fellow RM to chat Faasamoa with!!!! ;-)
